Smart Pressure Bands
Smart Pressure Bands
The Smart Pressure Band is a medical-grade silicone accessory designed to work in tandem with the Smart Scar-Care Pad (SSCP) strips or sheets. It serves as a pressure enhancer and fixator, specifically developed to replace traditional adhesive tapes or bulky bandages that can irritate the skin.
Primary Functions
- Pressure Application: It is a perforated, stretchable silicone tape that applies a controlled, therapeutic pressure (typically 15–25 mmHg) to the scar when wrapped or stretched over an SSCP.
- Fixation without Glue: Unlike standard medical tapes, its adhesiveness comes from the silicone gel itself. This makes it safe for sensitive skin and significantly reduces the risk of allergies or irritation.
- Conformability: It is highly extensible and breathable, allowing it to conform to complex body contours like fingers, wrists, or joints.
Key Features
-
Durable & Reusable: Washable and reusable, typically lasting through multiple applications (up to 5 uses).
-
Silicone Adhesion: Instead of water‑soluble adhesives found in traditional bandages, the Pressure Band uses medical‑grade silicone gel for secure, reliable adhesion—even during sweating or water exposure.
-
Versatile Use: Ideal for securing SSCP strips on surgical scars (including C‑sections) and can also be used independently for managing joint swelling or arthritis in the fingers.
-
Breathable Design: Perforated material enhances airflow and moisture control, ensuring comfort during extended wear.
-
Placement: Apply the SSCP pad or strip directly onto clean, dry skin over the scar.
-
Anchoring: Position the Pressure Band by securing one end to the skin, approximately 30 mm beyond the SSCP.
-
Compression: Stretch the band firmly along the length of the SSCP and secure the opposite end. The tension created provides the therapeutic pressure needed for optimal results.
Usage Tips for Wet or Humid Environments
- Start with Clean, Dry Skin: For the best adhesion and seal, always apply the band to thoroughly clean and dry skin.
- Avoid Harsh Detergents: After showers or workouts, clean the band using only mild hand soap or plain water. Strong detergents may irritate the skin and degrade the silicone.
- Clean More Frequently: In humid conditions or during heavy sweating, increase the cleaning frequency of both the band and the underlying scar pad to maintain hygiene and ensure optimal skin contact.
